A diverse career and an adventurous spirit have taken Ella Harvey to remote regions of the world.  She has lived on five continents and worked on four. Working as a nurse in a Cambodian refugee camp led to writing her first book: Encounters on the Front Line.

Ella’s second memoir, A Time of Light and Shadow: To Asia, Africa, and the Long Way Home, explores the quests of a young woman working in dire environments, chasing adventure, and seeking connection in unlikely places. Four decades later, on returning to India, she reflects on poverty and privilege, youth and aging, and longing and belonging. A Time of Light and Shadow was published by Rocky Mountain Books in October 2022. Ella presently lives in Victoria, Canada.
